Winter 2010 has already brought snow to our new house on 3 consecutive weekends (a lot, a flurry, an inch) and we have had great fun getting out into it. Here are some photos of the fun!
This afternoon, we set out to take advantage of the warm, sunny weather for a family hike on the American Tobacco Trail as it goes from Durham into Chatham county, just south of us. Olivia trekked along for a half mile or so on her own – little trooper – she even got stuck by a briar and didn’t cry - just said “Boo Boo” over and over – and a Hello Kitty BandAid made it all better. We tossed rocks in puddles, picked yellow flowers growing along the path, and searched for the roosters that she heard somewhere in the distance. A perfect ending to a wonderful weekend of relaxing at home together.
Hanna blew through overnight. All of the weather people were in a major panic. It was just 12 hours of good soaking rain and a few hours of decent wind, about the same as a thunderstorm. After Elmo got cut short by a power outage, we decided to go splash in the water rather than sit inside and be bored.
On the way to Charlotte over the Labor Day weekend Olivia (and mom and dad…) were getting stir crazy in the car. We decided to stop by the zoo for about an hour. It was a great choice, even with a new pair of skinned knees. We all had fun at the zoo then Olivia CRASHED in the car all the way from Asheboro to Charlotte.
